Who is arnoud raskin?



Streetwize is the result of the graduate project by the entrepreneur from Limburg, Belgium, Arnoud Raskin, that got out of hand. After obtaining his Master's degree in Industrial Design and Culture & development Studies and an experience as a development-aid worker in Colombia, he designed the Mobile School. A huge school board on wheels, perfect for education and preventional advice for streetchldren. Ann Van Hellemont, a psychologist from Leuven, enthusiastically joined him in the project. Together they found the vzw Mobile School and took off to Nicaraguanslums.

In the meantime more than 30 mobile School have been set up worldwide by several organizations. Mobile school vzw still develops new educational material and methods every day. The different way of looking at the issue of streetchildren is a success. To try to help them by providing them a school or a family, is a long term commitment. The Mobile School gives them immediately what they need: lessons on how to survive on the streets.

15 years of experience and research on the streets also taught Arnoud and Ann that these young people who live on the streets, have enormous power within themselves. They re-invent themselves on a daily basis, they know how to deal with reality and translate it consistently into opportunities. "Our corporate wordl could learn a lot from them", they thought. Streetwize was born.

The story has become full circle
Streetwize translate the streetchildren's streetskills into unconventional trainings for companies in our world. This way Streetwize increases their hunger, flexibility, proactivity and internal cohesion. The result? More strength for the business and their employees in an economy that changes faster than the streets of a metropolis. Streetwize invests the benefits back into the streetchildren, as it does with the results of the training tasks. This way, it benefits both the businesses and the streetchildren, in Belgium and abroad.
