Change Maker Leadership

Arnoud presents the 3 core ingredients of Change Maker Leadership. Such leadership is essential to tackle global problems such as basic education for 150 million street children, but also to bring about concrete change in your personal life or work. Not from high level theories but translated into concrete steps that anyone can take to master Change Maker Leadership.

Change Maker Leadership

Arnoud Raskin has gained over 20 years of experience as the founder and leader of MobileSchool.org, an organization working with street children worldwide. His expertise lies in social entrepreneurship, and he is a fellow within the Ashoka network, which brings together the most influential Change Maker Leaders from around the world. Through Ashoka, Arnoud was involved in a McKinsey study on leadership among social entrepreneurs who create organizations and movements to tackle major societal challenges: Change Maker Leadership.

According to Ashoka and McKinsey, this type of leadership is crucial for solving global problems, such as providing basic education to 150 million street children, addressing climate change and environmental issues, and making concrete changes in our personal lives, work, and environment.

During his keynote, Arnoud shares his personal story and inspiring stories of other changemakers within the Ashoka network. He highlights three fundamental beliefs every changemaker leader should embrace:

1. The belief that solutions are possible despite the complexity of challenges.

2. The awareness of interdependency.

3. The conviction that most people have good intentions, which is an essential foundation for change.

Arnoud then discusses three core skills or attributes that are crucial for changemaker leadership:

1. Self-awareness: The ability to understand and reflect on oneself.

2. Empathy: The importance of understanding and empathizing with others.

3. Courage and boldness: The strength to take action, even in difficult situations.

Arnoud’s story is not abstract theory but a pragmatic approach with concrete steps that anyone can take to develop changemaker leadership. He inspires and motivates participants to actively apply these skills in their own lives and work.
